Book of the term - Porters Avenue

“We’re going on a bear hunt” by Michael Rosen is this term’s chosen story book. The story is based around a father who takes his children on a bear hunt. There are several obstacles the family are faced with. These include

  • Long, wavy grass
  • A deep, cold river
  • Thick, oozy mud
  • A big, dark forest
  • A swirling, whirling snowstorm
  • A narrow, gloomy cave

We are going to be reading this book with the children over the course of the term and doing plenty of activities which are aimed at supporting the children to understand the story and the words used. Examples of such activities maybe: going on a bear hunt in our garden, role plays and creating relevant pictures.
